Prepare for Commercial Freight Delivery

A delivery address alone does not describe how freight can be received. Confirm site access, timing and unloading arrangements before dispatch.

Before you make the request

  • Confirm the Receiving Contact
  • Describe Site Access
  • Identify the Unloading Method
  • Agree Where the Handoff Ends
  • Keep the Shipment Details Consistent
01

Confirm the Receiving Contact

Provide a contact name, working phone number and receiving hours. Identify who can confirm an appointment and respond to questions on the delivery day.

02

Describe Site Access

State the address type and vehicle restrictions. Mention gates, limited-access areas or other conditions that may affect arrival and unloading.

03

Identify the Unloading Method

Confirm whether a dock or forklift is available. If additional equipment such as a liftgate is requested, provide cargo dimensions and weight for suitability review.

04

Agree Where the Handoff Ends

Freight delivery does not automatically include inside placement, unpacking, assembly or installation. Confirm the unloading point and scope with the service provider.

05

Keep the Shipment Details Consistent

Check pallet count, piece count and delivery instructions against the outbound documents. Communicate changes before the freight moves.

06

Plan Delivery With the Freight Request

Add the site and unloading details to your quote request so the final leg can be reviewed with the transportation plan.
